Dudes' road trip to Bellingham

Dad and I left Mom in Seattle and drove to Bellingham to visit the Lawson and Thomas grandparents. The machismo was flowing as we triumphantly made our rounds. At Grandpa Rob's, we got a surprise visit from Uncle Tom and Aunt Deb Lawson, and their awesome dog Jesse. Check this out.

I'll post several more videos, but will leave you with this one, which roughly conveys what it is like to change my diaper. It's a bit difficult, as Grandma Connie found out.

String-cheese incident

You may have noticed that my blog posts have become less frequent since mom went back to work. I'll work on taking more pictures with the nanny next week. But here are a few gems from this week.

I am really enjoying string cheese. Mom gave me a whole stick to play with - Yes!

I can hear your thoughts, string cheese.

Auntie Kath stopped by for a visit and I spit up all over her pretty purse. I actually did it to protect her from creepy guys in Las Vegas this weekend. You can thank me later Auntie Kath.

Today I ventured into my first sandbox. All I have to say is WOOHOO!

What is this noise I can make?

Maybe I heard someone coughing? Maybe it's a laugh? Maybe it just feels cool? Whatever it is, I like it.

Also, my new nanny started today, Celeste. We'll be joined by my buddy Vija tomorrow and it'll be me and the ladies for a long time to come, I hope. Hopefully we'll get a picture up soon!

Surprise engagement weekend

Flew to Cali with mom this weekend to celebrate Auntie Elise's surprise engagement party. Uncle Josh sure is a Romeo.

The pool party was fun

but it was soooo hot out as the melted butter on the buffet table demonstrates nicely.

Luckily I learned how to use this sweet water machine gun.

After showing off my skills in the pool, I had the ladies all to myself.

Got to see Ole and Lena too - Ole took me on some nice walks.

And Grandma and Grandpa Larson bought me a sweet wading pool to help me stay cool.

Grandma couldn't resist this shot . . .

I also tried cheerios and string cheese for the first time and loved them.

All in all a great weekend. I'll post a video soon. Gotta hit the sheets now. Peace.

Camping at Lake Easton

Camping trip numero dos. We decided to beat the heat and head for the mountains this weekend. Only problem was, the heat followed us. 100 degrees at the campground near Snoqualmie Pass in the Cascades. Clothes were optional and Dad had his party hat AND shirt on so I knew I could cut loose, too.

No camping trip is complete without a bunch of SUVs and a portable crib.

Most of Saturday was spent at the lake, where the temp was a few degrees cooler.

I had so much fun playing at the park that I passed out on Dad's back.

Then I mocked him as he slept. The tables have turned, Old Man!

Even though it was so hot, the early morning coolness allowed me to break out the fleece. And my life was changed by bacon. I'm double-fisting rashers here.

Going in for the kill.

And the greasy-faced goodness that follows.

Activities update

New activity for me: sitting down from standing. This helps the bonk-factor, which is nice because my head has taken a few knocks.

Mom is back at work a few days a week and I've had a few fun days with sitters, including our great friend Sara Armbrecht today and Lauren yesterday. They loved me, but I bet they were happy to not go home to a 7-month old!

Here's me motoring around.

The above-mentioned sitting down, capped off with a frantic grab for cords. Sweet, sweet cords...

Bruises and balloons

So here is the evidence - big bruise and bump on my noggin. All of my comrades at the wading pool yesterday were pretty concerned, but like I said before I am so over it. And now it is turning a nice shade of yellow. I suppose this is the first of many bruises. Actually you should check out my knees these days - pretty banged up from all the crawling I am doing. Do they make baby knee pads yet? I might need some of those in addition to a helmet.

Moving on to happier topics . . .

Today I went to yet another baby shower (for yet another potential girlfriend for me). I had my first experience with balloons. Even though they were pink I had a pretty good time.

7 month birthday!!!

No posed shot with Mom and Dad and a dessert this month. I don't hold still for posed pictures, sleep, or anything anymore. This picture kind of sums up my tornado-like lifestyle right now. I've dumped my toys all over the floor and am trying to crush myself by flipping my car seat over onto myself. A happy birthday indeed.

Stay tuned for pictures of my first major bonk injury. Tried to fly off of the bed. Don't worry all is well.

Giraffe anniversary gift

It was Mom and Dad's fifth anniversary - wood. Always on the ball, Grandma Connie got them/us/me a beautiful African carved wooden giraffe. Sort of like my toy Sophie's big brother.
Big giraffe:

Did I like this gift? Yes. Yes I did.

Anniversary recap

As you may know from the previous entry, it was Mom and Dad's anniversary this weekend and we hung out at the Semiahmoo Resort for a relaxing good time. Over the weekend we saw all of the grandparents and almost all of my aunts and uncles from Dad's side (missed you, Kath). It was a very special trip.

In no particular order, these things happened.
Crawled on the rocks. I feel no pain.

An action shot of the Larson and Thomas grandparents hanging with us on the beach. Skipping rocks Dad? Aren't you, like, over-30 now?

A more posed shot.

The result of one pull-up to the table in our room.

Sunset.

More fun on the beach. Who is having more fun playing in the rocks, me or Grandpa Ken?

Fancy dinner.

Family picture on the very spot Mom and Dad were married.

See you in five more years, Semiahmoo.

Happy 5th anniversary, Mom and Dad!!!

What a long strange trip (I hear) it has been. Five years ago today, Rhys Lawson and Brooke Larson were married at the historic Larson-Lawson wedding at the Semiahmoo resort in beautiful Blaine, Washington. Today we returned to the scene of the crime. The ceremony was held on the dock behind us in the picture, and one heck of a party followed.

Happy Anniversary Mom and Dad!
