Movies and MVP: Megan Russell

Thanks to Megan for some delicioso food, including what Dad seems to think are some pretty good cookies. Why won't he stop eating them? Is he OK?

The smiles are coming fast and hard now. Check me out.

And I'm really trying to crawl. I can do laps on my play pad thing forever.

Today's MVP: Kayleen

Thanks to Kayleen for some great food. I could taste the complex flavors of the stuffed pasta shells in my evening feedings.

Dad went back to work yesterday and today was Mom's first day flying solo with me. Apparently they are both tired! I'm not.

It was great meeting Aunt Elise. See you soon!

It's Been a Long Week

Hi guys!

The poop report is that I'm still on a multi-day cycle. So now you know.
I'm a really lazy eater and we're trying to get my feedings below the two-hour mark. I've been doing sucking exercises to get stronger, so you may notice some buff jaw muscles in future pictures.

Weighing in around 7 lbs. 8 oz. but I've been as high as 7 lbs. 11 oz. when I'm full of, well, you know.

I've been practicing my smile while I sleep. It's getting there.

My bed.

Storytime. Note that I am actually reading. Blueberries For Sal is one of my favorites.

I'm glad to have auntie Elise here for a visit.

Movie Mania

Some are more interesting than others, but because I star in all of them, they are all sure hits. Kind of like the new Rambo movie.

Very little head control.

More gnashing and gnawing. I am trying to tell you something, Mom and Dad. Can you read my body language?

Bjorn to be wild.

This one is boring, but you can't not watch it. Cameo by Stella and Auntie Elise's arms and legs.

The end!

Yesterday's MVP: Levi and Jen; Today's MVP: James and Laurie

Levi and Jen brought us dinner and dessert on Tuesday night. This is their second visit. I was 0.5 days old the first time they visited. Levi wouldn't hold me then but did last night. He looks very natural and comfortable holding me, wouldn't you say?

James brought over some lasagna for us today. He and Laurie visited a few days ago. Baby fever.

Who is this guy?

Some have wondered about the frequency of my bowel movements. Well, folks, I have been medically diagnosed as a "precocious pooper" by a real live nurse. It may take a few days, but it all comes out just fine eventually. 52 hours is the current record. Woe be to the parent that ends up with me when I have a "bingo" diaper, though. TMI? Never.

Action: Bath, Swing, and Outing

Bath time finds me feeling very photogenic. You may agree.

It was clear, sunny, and cold here in Seattle today so I was fully geared up for an intense stroller ride.

And I've finally made peace with my swing. Sleeping here with a dainty pinky raised.

Today's MVP: Grandma Connie

What a fun day. Didn't leave the house but we had a fun time trying to figure out my bowels. I decided to hold it in for about a day for no apparent reason. Maybe just because I could. Mom called the doctor but by the afternoon I decided to let it loose. 24 hours of pent up BM is more than this guy's diaper, onesie, blanket, and Dad's lap could contain. Maybe I won't try that again.

Thanks to Grandma Connie for taking care of the house and the family this weekend!

Sometimes, I get tired and yawn

but I won't go to sleep. So Dad packs me up in the Bjorn, like this:

Nice look, Dad.

And the end result is generally this:

Everyone loves Sleeping Jack.

Today's MVP: Lauren

Thanks for dinner and dessert!

And a first Hello! to Pete and Suzanne.

More eating than sleeping

Lots of pictures today.

I've been Baby Bjorned here.

Bouncing me on an exercise ball in my car seat? Nice work, Dad. Sweet sleep mask, too. What, are you saying you never know when you'll have five minutes to take a nap so you need to keep that thing handy?

Grrrr.

Sleep.

Road warrior.

Family.

Guess what I am doing in this picture.

I'm still hungry.

Wednesday, January 16, 2008

I'm hungry.

Slow day today. Had my 1-2 week doctor checkup. Passed with flying colors. Had to get my heel poked for a blood test.

Found my newly formed navel. Got a case of monkey-butt.

Gratuitous shot of me.

Dad wanted to get a video of me thrashing my head around like a hungry dog. This is a little staged since Mom's finger had to induce me. Still pretty funny.

I'm still hungry even though I've been nursing for two hours. I will now be lulled to sleep in a Baby Bjorn and crash our on Dad's chest for a few hours.

First Post: Intro and jazzercise with mom and dad

Hey, I'm Jack. I was born on 1.7.08 at 7:08 AM. I weighed 7.0 lbs and was 20" long. My birth pretty much went like this:

Labor

Birth (apparently I'm a boy)

On Mom, having my navel made by Dad

With Dad

Grandma and Grandpa Larson were there for my birth and helped Mom and Dad adjust to life with me.

Then Dad's family came to meet me.

And Grandma Connie stayed with us for a long weekend.

Today is January 15, 2008 and I'm getting much bigger and stronger. My mellowness is my strongest virtue at this point, with attractiveness being a close second. Here's some exercising with my dad.
