The Christmas Roundup Part 2 - Bellingham

My first Christmas appears to show no signs of a slow economy.

And here I am seeing my first Christmas morning. The tricycle was my big present but I was distracted by a few other items before I finally got rollin'.

Here I am! Yes that is a makeup brush in my hand - do you have a problem with that?

Present coma. Yes, already. And I am only on the stocking.

Putting my girlfriends into speed dial on my new cell phone. Hola!

I took unwrapping very seriously.

No press please.

I got a few musical instruments - I guess my fans really want to hear me rock some more.

Getting in touch with my feminine side.

Someone, I think it was Grandpa Mark, thought it would be cool to take family photos in the snow. From L to R: Mom, Dad, me, Aunt Rachel, Uncle Geoff, Aunt Katherine, Grandma Connie and Grandpa Mark. That's Lake Whatcom in the background. And yes, more snow.

Hope you all had a very merry Christmas. I sure did. Get ready for a rockin' new year's eve - I hit the sheets around 7:30 so I will be celebrating the new year on London time. See you in 2009!

As I always like to say, ALLDONE!

The Christmas Roundup Part 1 - Lynden

Driving up to Grandpa Rob's house in Lynden on Christmas eve. It was snowy.

Here is dad with Grandpa Rob. I think my chances are pretty good to look like these studs when I grow up.

Watching for Santa and the reindeer while mom cooked a Norwegian Christmas Eve feast! I especially like the store-bought rolls and riskrem dessert - yum.

I was super good this year so I got to open a few presents on Christmas eve. Grandpa Rob got me a cool Irish drum (bodhran) and whistle. I am pretty good already.

We sang some carols around the piano and read The Night Before Christmas before heading to Grandma Connie's and Grandpa Mark's house for the night. Luckily Santa has GPS capabilities and tracked my move to B-ham that night.

I'll see your bacon and raise you one curly head of hair

I guess this passes as an update on my eating habits and hair style, but they're just funny pictures, really.

And the operative question here is, where is Jack? A secondary question may be, why is Jack naked. Thirdly, what's up with the sock in the mouth?

Christmas Day

Merry Christmas everyone! A quick update.

It was one of the first white Christmases I've ever had. About a foot of snow around Bellingham, which made it hard for me to get around.

I had a few presents (20) to open, but was up to the task.

Surely with all of these presents I won't get anything else for my birthday in two weeks, right?

More snow!

We woke up to this:

And it kept snowing all day long. We took a walk to the market again today and saw lots of x-country skiers. I prefer to stay warm in my yellow bubble.

We got home and built a snowman. I tried to give him a high-five, but I broke his arm.

Then the snowman stole my pacifier in retaliation. We will see who wins this battle once the weather warms up! Game on, Snowman.

For true fans

Can you believe I am almost 1? Here are all of the things I can do:
I can sign water, all done, milk, hello, and bye-bye. I can say all done too, and I like to mimic mommy and daddy talking. I also like to sing. I can point at things I want (mostly at things I can't have like the Christmas tree lights and the kitties). I can understand commands like "come here" and "give Daddy the pacifier". I also understand "no", but I don't like to hear it - it makes me so mad! My favorite game is still peek-a-boo. I can walk everywhere - forwards, backwards and sideways. I have even tried running a few times - my feet move fast but I don't gain much ground yet. I can blow a whistle and blow my nose. I eat a lot of big people food - I really like pasta. I also ate cat poop this week (gross) and it was disgusting as I am sure you probably already knew. Now I know. You may have heard that I am getting three teeth - hopefully that will make eating easier. I can sleep all night long - mommy and daddy are so proud. Did I mention that it is still snowing in Seattle? Stay tuned for some more snow pictures tomorrow.

If you have read all of this you are a true fan and will be rewarded with some slice of life videos.

This video shows what I do all day:

Here is some whistling and a fierce game of peek-a-boo.

I'm in love!

How to get the girl (in this case my friend Lily):
1) Find her at the playground and chase her down;

2) Lay a big fat kiss right on her lips;

3) Then gaze into her eyes. Chicks really dig that.

Snow day!!!

It snowed all day today so the whole family stayed home. It was beautiful out in the flakes.

It took a minute, but I warmed up to the idea of playing in the snow pretty quickly.

Dad made a mini snowman for me.

We went for a walk and I traveled by space pod.

We had fun inside, too. I learned how to sweep and put away laundry.

Can you see my teeth? Probably not, but they're coming. Three of them!

As if this wasn't enough, my first words have been identified: "all done!" Which was also my first sign, too. Apparently I'm interested in conveying my done-ness to everyone. Viva la talking!

I'm art!

Mom is art, too.

Who is this old dude?

Sweet sweaters!

Feelin' the holiday sweater spirit

Although you can't tell by my serious expression, I really enjoyed my first carousel ride.

Snow and holiday parties

The weekend started with Dad's firm's holiday party. I had a chance to experiment with clear glass plates. So cool.

Saturday was Mom's book club party. The holiday sweaters were amazing, but the snow stole the show at the end of the night.

We woke up to this.

Dudes rule

Mom was in DC fixing the country or something so Dad and I had a few days of male bonding. We did the usual stuff:

Made a fort out of a huge box,

ate peanut-butter-and-jelly pancakes for dinner,

and ran around naked.

It goes without saying that we'll be glad to have Mom home.
Thanks to Alicia and Auntie Lacy for hanging out with me the last few days, too.
